Things to Consider When Buying A New Dining Table by Thelma
Thanksgiving Day is approaching. It is the Day to bring your family together. All family members gather to celebrate this Day. Maybe you need a new dining table to accommodate everybody. Then comes the following problem – How to choose a right table for your dining room? OK, Just follow the four tips listed below.
Size: Dining tables come in many sizes. You may want to measure your dining room before choosing a dining table. Do you have a small dining room ? If so, you certainly do not want to crowd it with a large table. You need space to pull out your chairs and to walk around. Likewise, if you have a large dining room, you won’t put a small table in the room. The table will look too small and it can not fill the space. Generally, you need to leave at least 48 inches between the edge of the table and the wall or the closest piece of furniture for comfort. Just make sure the dining room table you choose is sized appropriately for the space of your dining room.
Capacity: What is the capacity of a dining table? It refers to how many people can be comfortably seated around it. You need to be aware of your seating needs. How many people do you usually have at a majority of your meals? If your family entertains and has regular gatherings, do not forget to count the people who will join those meals. For entertaining among family and close friends, a small table will works fine. You may imagine seating three or four people around a large table. What does it feel? Inviting? Of course not. It feels distant and impersonal.
Shape: The shape of a dining table can affect its capacity and ability to fill space. If your dining room is rectangular, a rectangular table can make the best use of your dining room space. But if you want both the benefits of a rectangular table and the fluency of curves, consider an oblong one. If your room is square, a square table with leaves is a smart option. Round dining tables are great for creating social atmosphere. They encourage conversations. Because everyone seated can see each other. If you want more flexibility, a table with leaves will be a good option.
Style: Consider the decor theme of your home and make sure your dining table matches the style of your home. Wood tables are popular and can be a good choice for conservative or neutral decor. A wide selection of woods are available, including cherry, teak, oak, mahogany and pine etc. Pine tables creates a casual feel while darker woods, like mahogany and cherry, make great formal dining tables. Metal and glass tables are good choices for contemporary styles. Dark metals matches more reserved occasions, while shiny steel evokes casual feel.
